Who We Are
The Springfield Business Improvement District (SBID) was formed in 1998 as a non-profit corporation that works to revitalize downtown Springfield, Massachusetts. Approximately 100 property owners in the 26-block downtown core, with a cumulative value of nearly $300,000,000, pay an annual fee above and beyond the City’s commercial tax rate. The fees collected, in addition to an annual financial committment from the City as well as revenue generated through other SBID activities, grant writing, and events, amount to nearly $1,000,000 in annual financial investment in downtown Springfield.
We work with the public and private sectors to make downtown Springfield a great place to work, live, play and visit. The SBID enhances City services with daily cleaning, beautification, and other efforts aimed at revitalizing our City’s downtown.
Our Vision
The vision of the Springfield Business Improvement District is to improve the quality of life and revitalize Downtown Springfield through a focus on investment, marketing, economic development, special events and supplemental beautification, cleaning and security services. Our goal is to increase property values and urban vitality by continuing to make our downtown a safe, clean, beautiful, friendly place to live, work and play.
